Commerce department was started during the year 1984. It is the biggest department in the college with UG courses – B.Com and BBA. PG Dept. with M.Com course was started during the year 2005. In addition to the university syllabus, tally courses are offered to the students on self-financing basis. There are four Associate Professors and four Assistant Professors with 3 years to 30 years of teaching experience.
The department is the pioneer in establishing Commerce Lab at the university level which aims at providing practical knowledge about the banking, taxation and other financial activities. It is also one of the nodal departments to introduce the add-on courses in the commerce related subjects.
The vision of the department is to bridge the inherent skills of students with the industrial expectations in the ever changing and challenging global competitive business scenario by continuously providing a comprehensive knowledge in commerce.
The department encourages the students to participate in co-curricular and extracurricular activities like sports, NCC, NSS and other community services. It is proud to say that the department has produced the rank holders and gold medallists at the Bangalore University level
